Frequently Asked Questions

🏠 Truwae Living – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is shared supportive housing?
Shared supportive housing is a living arrangement where individuals share a home or apartment while receiving basic structure and expectations to help them maintain housing stability and work toward their personal goals. It provides a supportive, community-based living environment for individuals facing barriers to stable housing such as homelessness, mental health challenges, or other hardships.

2. Who is eligible for shared supportive housing?
Eligibility may vary by program. At Truwae Living, we serve:

 - Veterans

- Seniors

 - Individuals aging out of foster care

- People with representative payees

- Justice-impacted individuals

- Domestic violence survivors

- Displaced individuals

**All residents must be able to live independently and manage their daily needs without 24/7 care.**

3. What supportive services are offered?
While Truwae Living does not provide direct clinical or in-home care, residents may access support through:

Case managers or parole officers (outside providers)

Referrals to community resources (mental health, healthcare, employment support)

House structure, rules, and accountability to promote independence

Coordination with outside agencies as needed

4. How are roommates matched?
Roommate matching is based on availability, compatibility, and individual needs. We do our best to make appropriate placements through a review of intake forms, interviews, and case manager input (if applicable).

5. Is shared supportive housing affordable?
Yes. The monthly program fee is designed to be affordable and may be paid by the resident, a representative payee, or a supporting agency. In some cases, residents may use subsidies or third-party support to help cover the fee.

6. What does the monthly program fee include?
The program fee includes:

A furnished private or shared room

All utilities (electricity, water, gas, trash)

Wi-Fi

Access to shared common areas (kitchen, living room, bathrooms)

Routine property maintenance

Program coordination and resident support

7. Are visitors allowed?
No personal visitors are allowed. For the safety and privacy of all residents, only case managers or parole officers are permitted to visit, and all visits must be scheduled and approved in advance.

8. What are the house rules and expectations?
Residents are expected to follow all program rules. Violations may result in warnings or removal from the program. Immediate removal may occur for:

Smoking or drinking inside the home

Tampering with security cameras or equipment

Violent, threatening, or disruptive behavior

Quiet hours are strictly enforced from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM.

9. How long can someone stay in the program?
Length of stay depends on the resident’s stability, conduct, and ability to follow program guidelines. Truwae Living is not emergency or time-limited housing — our goal is to provide consistent housing for residents who can function independently in a structured environment.

10. Do you provide housing for families or children?
No. Truwae Living is currently for single adults only. We do not offer housing for families or women with children. We encourage those in need of family housing to contact local social service agencies or housing authorities.

11. Do you provide rental or utility assistance?
No. We do not offer financial assistance. Our program provides housing for individuals who are already able to pay the program fee through personal funds, representative payees, or partner agencies.

12. Do you offer refunds?
No. All program fees are non-refundable. If the program is not a good fit, we will do our best to provide referrals to other housing or support resources.

13. How do I apply for shared supportive housing?
You can apply by contacting us directly or being referred by a case manager, social worker, or service provider. The application process includes an intake form, possible interview, and a review of eligibility.
